Work on an approved semester-long paid project at an industrial site. Meet once per week on campus. Progress reports, oral presentations, final report, and evaluation by project supervisor will be used to demonstrate the acquisition of skills identified as goals prior to the start of the assignment. Please follow the instructions at how does it work weblink under http://jobs.cs-sjsu.org to get approval and an add code. I will allow adds up through the last day to add under SJSU schedule.
One objective of the course is to give you exposure to a cross-section of what is happening in Silicon Valley. Through presentations and interactive discussion, students will improve their understanding of various disciplines of technology and have a broader view of the state of the art technology development useful to their career in the long run.

Wireless Laptop requirement: (you may click here to buy laptops online)
You will be required to have a wireless-network ready laptop computer to do your presentations. You will also need to use your own laptop with wireless access inside SJSU campus to show relevant websites. Your laptop needs to have wireless capability and you need to register a free wireless account at http://www.sjsu.edu/sjsuone/. For information on typical laptop requirement see Wireless Requirements update announcement under http://www.cs.sjsu.edu/. The instructor is not responsible for providing either laptops or alternatives.
Class Participation:
Participation in the weekly meetings is an important requirement of the course. The course is not just about your own project, but also about everyone else's. One objective of the course is to give you exposure to a cross-section of what is happening in Silicon Valley. Class attendance is not optional. I expect each student to be present and punctual at every scheduled class. You will be asked to present your project work regularly. Class participation will be used in part to determine your grade. Some aspects of this participation include the interaction with the project presenter and the submission of your weekly progress report, which must be done by 11:30 PM every Monday via your D2L online account . Additional penalties may also apply if you do not fully participate in the presentations or weekly report submission. The instructor reserves the right to ignore frivolous or inappropriate e-mail inquiries.

Information about late drop is available at http://www.sjsu.edu/sac/advising/latedrops/policy/ . Students should be aware of the current deadlines and penalties for adding and dropping classes.

Students should know that the University’s Academic Integrity Policy is availabe at http://www.sa.sjsu.edu/download/judicial_affairs/Academic_Integrity_Policy_S07-2.pdf. Your own commitment to learning, as evidenced by your enrollment at San Jose State University and the University’s integrity policy, require you to be honest in all your academic course work. Faculty members are required to report all infractions to the office of Student Conduct and Ethical Development. The website for Student Conduct and Ethical Development is available at http://www.sa.sjsu.edu/judicial_affairs/index.html.
Instances of academic dishonesty will not be tolerated. Cheating on exams or plagiarism (presenting the work of another as your own, or the use of another person’s ideas without giving proper credit) will result in a failing grade and sanctions by the University. For this class, all assignments are to be completed by the individual student unless otherwise specified. If you would like to include in your assignment any material you have submitted, or plan to submit for another class, please note that SJSU’s Academic Policy F06-1 requires approval of instructors.
If you need course adaptations or accommodations because of a disability, or if you need to make special arrangements in case the building must be evacuated, please make an appointment with me as soon as possible, or see me during office hours. Presidential Directive 97-03 requires that students with disabilities requesting accommodations must register with the DRC (Disability Resource Center) to establish a record of their disability.
Computer labs for student use are available in the Academic Success Center located on the 1st floor of Clark Hall and on the 2nd floor of the Student Union. Additional computer labs may be available in your department/college. Computers are also available in the Martin Luther King Library.
